Al-Hajjar Commends Efforts of Airport Security Apparatus, Inspection Unit

Beirut: Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar praised the efforts of the Airport Security Service, specifically the Airport Inspection Unit of the Security Service for Embassies, Administrations and Public Institutions of the Internal Security Forces. The unit succeeded on Friday in arresting four individuals of Turkish nationality as they were leaving Beirut for Kuwait through the VIP lounge at Rafic Hariri International Airport - Beirut. The individuals were found with approximately 20 kilograms of Captagon hidden inside belts wrapped around their bodies.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Al-Hajjar indicated that "the necessary investigations are being conducted under the supervision of the concerned judiciary."

The Ministry of Interior and Municipalities affirmed its "full commitment to combating drug and contraband smuggling through Lebanon," asserting that "this issue is a priority for the Ministry, which it continuously monitors to protect Lebanese society and the societies of sister countries."
