Beirut: Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghassan Salam©, held a meeting with Ziad Chehab, Vice President of the Chehabi Princes Association, at the Sanayeh National Library. During the meeting, Mr. Chehab provided an update on the current state of the Chehabi seraglio located in Hasbaya, highlighting the urgent need for restoration efforts to prevent further deterioration and damage.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Mr. Chehab extended an invitation to Dr. Salam© to visit the Chehabi seraglio for an on-site inspection. The visit would allow for a comprehensive examination of the site's elements and facilitate discussions on potential restoration measures.
Mr. Chehab emphasized the collaborative nature of the restoration effort, noting that the castle is owned by several members of the Chehabi family. To streamline the process, a letter signed by the owners will be submitted to the General Directorate of Antiquities of the Ministry of Culture. This letter will request a detailed study of the restoration requirements, with the aim of securing necessary funding to preserve the cultural and historical significance of the Chehabi seraglio in Hasbaya.
