Doha: Palestinian political analysts and experts agree that the upcoming emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha is a pivotal opportunity to coordinate a unified response to ongoing Israeli aggression. The summit, scheduled for Monday, aims to address the recent Israeli attacks targeting the homes of several Hamas leaders in Doha and broader violations of international law.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the summit is expected to formulate a cohesive stance against Israeli encroachments on Arab sovereignty. This includes seeking a resolution supported by Arab nations, international bodies, and the United Nations to halt the ongoing violence in Gaza, as well as addressing annexation and Judaization projects in the West Bank.
Dr. Samir Abu Madallala, a political analyst from Al-Azhar University in Gaza, emphasized the vital roles of Qatar and Egypt in mediating between Palestinian resistance and Israeli forces. He highlighted that the summit represents an opportunity for Arab and Islamic nations to support Qatar’s sovereignty and reassess their relationships with Israel, which he described as having expansionist ambitions threatening Arab interests.
Abu Madallala further explained that recent Israeli attacks demonstrate a reluctance to pursue peace or resolve prisoner issues, instead aiming to continue aggressive campaigns in Gaza. He expressed hope that Qatar’s mediation efforts could soon lead to a ceasefire, reinforcing Palestinian resilience and maintaining what remains of Gaza amidst ongoing occupation efforts.
Political analyst Mohammed Abu Qamar believes the summit will feature crucial discussions on coordinated Arab responses to Israeli aggression, especially given the support Israel receives from the United States. He noted that the timing of the summit is significant, coinciding with heightened Israeli aggression against Qatari sovereignty and broader regional threats.
Abu Qamar highlighted Qatar’s persistent diplomatic efforts, which successfully brokered two truces in February 2024 and January 2025, despite continued Israeli hostilities. He stressed the importance of the summit in taking a decisive stance against regional aggression and urged for immediate actions to halt conflicts in Gaza and curb settlement expansions in the West Bank.
Political researcher Ahmed Abu Zuhri pointed out that holding the summit in Doha, where recent Israeli aggression occurred, underscores the seriousness of the Arab and Islamic response. He noted that the high-level attendance from Gulf, Arab, and Islamic countries signals a strong regional opposition to Israel’s threats, positioning the summit as a platform for a unified and proactive diplomatic confrontation.
Abu Zuhri also asserted that the attack on Doha was an attempt to undermine Qatar’s mediation role in Gaza, highlighting the urgency of placing the Gaza crisis at the forefront of the summit’s agenda to achieve a lasting ceasefire and peace.
