Beirut: The Kataeb Political Bureau convened for its weekly meeting under the leadership of Party Leader Samy Gemayel, discussing the ongoing developments in Lebanon and the broader region. The bureau issued a statement addressing several key issues impacting the nation.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Political Bureau condemned the recent Israeli strike in Bint Jbeil, which resulted in the deaths of children. The bureau emphasized that targeting civilians, particularly children, is a grievous crime and called on the international community to protect innocent lives.
The bureau also responded to Hezbollah's recent overtures to Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that official dialogue between Lebanon and the Kingdom is already occurring through established diplomatic channels. The bureau urged Hezbollah to focus on disarming and placing weapons under state control to prevent further tragedies in Lebanon.
Additionally, the Kataeb Party called on the Parliament's Bureau and Speaker Nabih Berri to expedite the introduction of an urgent draft law concerning expatriate voting. Ensuring the amendment is passed promptly will allow parliamentary elections to proceed as scheduled, safeguarding the voting rights of Lebanese expatriates.
The bureau stressed that the upcoming legislative session is critical, as it is the last of the extraordinary term before the regular session begins, which will focus on the draft budget. This underscores the urgency of addressing the expatriate voting amendment within the limited timeframe available.
