Maarab: Lebanese Forces party leader Samir Geagea met today in Maarab with Ambassador Edouard Gabriel, head of the Task Force for Lebanon (ATFL), in the presence of Joseph Jebaily, member of the Lebanese Forces Executive Committee.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, following the meeting, Gabriel commented on their discussions, indicating a productive dialogue with Dr. Geagea. The topics included the current policy climate in Washington concerning Lebanon and the necessity to advance several items on the US-Lebanon political agenda.
Gabriel detailed their discussions on the disarmament of Hezbollah and other militias, emphasizing the significance of the reform agenda. He highlighted the substantial financial support from the United States to the Lebanese Army, viewing it as a testament to the international community's trust in the military's ability to fulfill its responsibilities, despite the significant challenges it faces.
Gabriel underscored the essential challenge confronting the Lebanese Army, particularly in completing the disarmament process south of the Litani River and eventually throughout all Lebanese regions. He also pointed out the crucial nature of the forthcoming engagement with the International Monetary Fund, which he described as a pivotal moment for aligning the Fund's expectations with Lebanon's national priorities.
