Metn: MP Ibrahim Kanaan emphasized that preventing the return of deposits to their rightful owners will not be tolerated, stating, "Just as we prevented the writing off of deposits, today we will stand against the prevention of their recovery." He highlighted the importance of a state that ensures citizens' rights through legislation rather than government schemes aimed at writing off $100 billion in deposits.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Kanaan underscored the indivisibility of Lebanon's sovereignty and independence, emphasizing that these cannot be compromised. He called for a strong Lebanon, equipped with its own army and a judiciary system that upholds justice for its people. He asserted that sovereignty, independence, and freedom are safeguarded by a national army, the sole bearer of arms with the duty to protect every Lebanese citizen and territory. He further praised Lebanon's strength through its constitutional institutions, particularly the Republic Presidency, strengthened by General Joseph Aoun.
Kanaan's remarks were made during a Metn dinner banquet he hosted on Saturday evening. The event was attended by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elias Bou Saab, representatives of the Tashnag Party, members of the Central Committee, several mayors and municipal council members, and over 3,000 people from the northern Metn region.
Addressing the attendees, Kanaan vowed to foster the development of the Metn region equitably, emphasizing dignity and independence from external influences.
