Washington: Finance Minister Yassin Jaber headed Saturday to the United States capital, Washington, to participate in the Fall meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Jaber commented on the recent Israeli attack on Msaileh before departing. He stated that the Israeli attack against civilians and civil institutions would not deter efforts to rebuild what has been destroyed. Jaber communicated this commitment to the President of the Council of the South and the Speaker of Parliament, along with several officials en route to Washington.
Jaber pledged to collaborate with representatives of Lebanon's friendly and sister countries, as well as other parties capable of providing financial support. He expressed hope to enhance the fund dedicated to reconstruction, aiming to raise its capacity to one billion dollars in cooperation with the World Bank.
He emphasized that the response to the attacks lies in a steadfast commitment to reconstruction and the resolve of southerners to remain on their land. Jaber highlighted the government's responsibility to prioritize reconstruction efforts to ensure stability in the region.
