Rome: Minister of Information, Attorney Paul Morcos, took part in a dialogue seminar in Rome - Modena titled "Cultural Intelligence and the Role of Culture as a Bridge to Cooperation and Peacebuilding." The seminar saw participation from Italian Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, Libyan Culture Minister Mabrouka Othman Oki, Egyptian Culture Minister Enas Abdel-Dayem, and various other ministerial, political, cultural, and media figures from different countries.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister Morcos emphasized the importance of cultural intelligence as a means to foster understanding and peace. He highlighted the role of media in Lebanon, stressing that it is a daily responsibility that can either unite or divide the diverse cultures, religions, and languages in the country. Morcos advocated for responsible journalism that uses cultural intelligence to report with empathy, listen before speaking, and understand before judging.
Morcos encouraged Lebanese media to focus on the positive aspects of the new presidential era, using media as a bridge to connect the diverse communities within Lebanon. He pointed out that in today's digital age, cultural intelligence is crucial in recognizing bias, preventing misinformation, and promoting dialogue over division.
The Minister also highlighted the mission of the Ministry of Information to support responsible media, promote cultural awareness, and enhance media literacy among the younger generation. He underscored Lebanon's reputation as a hub of ideas, creativity, and coexistence, urging the media to celebrate diversity as a strength.
On the sidelines of the seminar, Morcos met with Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, conveying greetings from President Joseph Aoun and Minister of National Defense Michel Mnassah. Crosetto expressed a desire to visit Lebanon and check on the UNIFIL forces in the South in December.
