Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, held a significant meeting at Baabda Palace with the UK Defence Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa, Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, accompanied by British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the discussions during the meeting focused on the prevailing conditions in Lebanon and the broader region. Key topics included recent developments following the announced agreement to end hostilities in Gaza, as well as the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh meeting. President Aoun and Vice Admiral Ahlgren exchanged views on Lebanese-Syrian relations, with Aoun emphasizing the ongoing coordination between the two nations, particularly in security and economic domains.
Further into the meeting, the dialogue highlighted the robust Lebanon-Britain relationship, specifically the cooperation in security matters and the UK's support for constructing watchtowers on Lebanon's eastern and southern borders. President Aoun expressed gratitude for Britain's assistance across various sectors.
On a separate note, President Aoun conferred with Kataeb Party leader, MP Sami Gemayel, discussing the political climate amid local and regional shifts. Additionally, he met with the President of the Federation of Arab Hospitals, MP Fadi Alameh, and his delegation, who updated him on the Federation's health initiatives in the Arab sector.
President Aoun's engagements continued with the Head of the "Change Movement" Party, Attorney Elie Mahfoud, and party delegates. Their discussion revolved around Lebanon's political and economic status.
