Berri Meets UNIFIL Commander, Stresses Lebanon’s Commitment to UN Resolution 1701

Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with UNIFIL Force Commander General Diodato Abagnara and his delegation at the second presidency headquarters in Ain El-Tineh. The meeting focused on the general situation in the area of UNIFIL's operations south of the Litani River and the ongoing tasks supported by the Lebanese Army under UN Resolution 1701.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Berri emphasized the role of the international peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon. He expressed gratitude to UNIFIL for its service and the strengthening of relations with the local population. Berri reiterated Lebanon's commitment to UN Resolution 1701 and urged the international community to compel Israel to adhere to the ceasefire, stop daily attacks, and withdraw from occupied territories in southern Lebanon.

In a separate meeting, Speaker Berri discussed political developments, legislative affairs, and upcoming parliamentary elections with MP Ghassan Skaff.
