Beirut: Minister of Labor, Dr. Mohammed Haidar, on Wednesday received a delegation from the International Labor Organization (ILO) Beirut Office in his office, where they discussed the projects the organization is implementing in Lebanon in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Labor.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the discussion also focused on the mechanism to be adopted for future projects, particularly in the fields of training and expertise to enhance the Lebanese labor market. Additionally, Minister Haidar met with a delegation from the National Employment Institution and was briefed on the Institution's work. He provided directives to enhance its role at all levels.
Minister Haidar also engaged with Mireille Melki, Vice President of the Syriac Democratic Solidarity Committee and Director of Legal and Administrative Affairs at the Russian-Lebanese Cooperation Office. Melki stated that the discussion explored ways to secure job opportunities for Lebanese youth and foster cooperation between the ministry and the authority in social and developmental areas.
Minister Haidar emphasized the importance of involving civil society organizations in plans aimed at combating unemployment and creating a productive work environment. Melki expressed the Syriac Democratic Solidarity Committee's readiness to collaborate with the Ministry on vocational training programs to equip young people with market-ready skills and contribute to the national economy.
The statement concluded with an agreement to maintain coordination to strengthen the partnership and activate joint initiatives to support and empower youth.
