Beirut: Minister of Social Affairs Hanin Sayyed conducted a field visit to the South, including Tyre, Bint Jbeil, and Jabal al-Batm, accompanied by a delegation from the ministry. Minister Sayyed met with several mayors and local dignitaries and examined the social conditions in the areas affected by the recent Israeli war.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Sayyed affirmed that the Ministry of Social Affairs, representing the state, stands with the people of the South during this difficult period and is working within available resources to provide support and assistance to the most affected groups. She noted that the Ministry is currently preparing a comprehensive reconstruction and recovery plan that includes development projects in the affected areas, most notably the $250 million World Bank-funded project, which is in its final preparatory stages, in addition to an agricultural project in cooperation with the Council for Development and Reconstruction.
The minister emphasized that the Ministry is concerned with the restoration of social centers in the South and their gradual resumption of operations.
Sayyed stressed that the ministry, as the state's representative, is committed to standing by the people of the south, and that the government, headed by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, considers reconstruction a national priority and a firm development commitment.
