MOPWT Launches Road Reflector Installation to Enhance Safety on Beirut-Damascus Highway

Beirut: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport launched on Friday the installation of road reflectors along the median barrier of Beirut-Damascus International Highway stretching from Hazmieh through Aley and Sawfar to Dahr El-Baydar, as part of its continuous efforts to enhance road safety standards across vital high-traffic routes.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the initiative aims to improve safety levels and ensure clearer visibility for drivers, particularly during nighttime hours, fog, and adverse weather conditions that often affect mountainous areas along this stretch.

Technical teams began work from the Ashrafieh Bridge area, facing 'City Centre,' and are progressing upward toward the Sawfar Bridge. The works will continue until full completion across the targeted section within the planned timeframe.

The ministry clarified that these activities will not require lane closures or traffic diversions, as implementation is being carried out in a carefully coordinated manner that ensures smooth traffic flow without disruption.

It also urged drivers to exercise caution, comply with the instructions of the Internal Security Forces, and adhere to the guidance signs posted at the worksite to ensure public safety and prevent congestion or potential accidents.
