Beirut: Prime Minister, Dr. Nawaf Salam, on Tuesday met at the Grand Serail with Morgan Ortagus, Senior Advisor to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, in the presence of U.S. Charg© d'Affaires Keith Hannigan.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, talks focused on the work of the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee (Mechanism) and its role in ensuring compliance with the November ceasefire declaration. Prime Minister Salam stressed that the goal of any negotiations must be the full implementation of the ceasefire, particularly to end Israeli attacks and secure Israel's complete withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory.
The Minister also noted that one of the process's aims is to achieve the release of Lebanese detainees, emphasizing that implementing the government's decision to confine arms to state authority, both south and north of the Litani River, requires urgent international support for the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces, through a dedicated international conference.
Prime Minister Salam further underlined that stabilizing southern Lebanon also demands global assistance to convene an economic recovery and reconstruction conference.
