Beirut: Minister of National Defense, Major General Michel Menassa, on Tuesday received the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, at his Yarzeh office. The meeting focused on strategies to bolster the efforts of the Committee for Supervising the Cessation of Hostilities in support of Lebanon's initiatives.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Hennis-Plasschaert underscored the United Nations' ongoing commitment to supporting Lebanon, reinforcing its stability, and aiding its national institutions. She highlighted the significance of enhancing the existing cooperation between Lebanon and the United Nations across various fields.
Minister Menassa reiterated the importance of the close collaboration between the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL forces in enforcing UN Resolution 1701. He emphasized that this cooperation is crucial in light of the Israeli occupation's repeated breaches of the resolution.
Major General Menassa also called for increased international pressure on Israel to adhere to the agreement established in November 2024. He urged for the withdrawal from the occupied sites and the cessation of violations against Lebanese sovereignty.
