Beirut: Lebanese Forces leader, Samir Geagea, told The National that the Lebanese government has shown 'no persistence or real determination' to implement its own decision mandating the army to collect all weapons and place them under state authority. Geagea warned that Lebanon's future 'must not be trapped between a new civil war or another Israeli war,' criticizing what he described as political paralysis that risks leaving Lebanon behind in a rapidly changing region.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Geagea said most cabinet members lack the political will to address Hezbollah's arms, excluding the four LF ministers and a few others. He contrasted today's 'absence of political resolve' with the decisive atmosphere that accompanied the election of President Joseph Aoun and the appointment of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
The LF leader argued that Lebanon will 'remain stuck until Hezbollah disarms,' stressing the need for stronger coordination with the U.S. and Arab states. He also urged a return to the armistice framework, calling it the only sustainable path to long-term stability.
