Beirut: Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi on Thursday met with the EU Special Representative for Human Rights, Kaisa Ollongren, to discuss strengthening cooperation between Lebanon and the European Union within the framework of the partnership agreement and ongoing political dialogue. Raggi underscored Lebanon's 'firm commitment to protecting and advancing human rights,' highlighting the progress achieved in aligning national practices with international standards.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Raggi called on the EU to exert pressure on Israel to halt its attacks on Lebanon, stop targeting civilians, release detainees, and allow displaced southerners to return to their villages. He also urged stronger EU support for the return of Syrian refugees to Syria, describing it as 'a humanitarian imperative and a fundamental human right.'
