Beirut: Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea has called upon Lebanon's leadership to seek international assistance to pressure Israel to cease its attacks and withdraw from Lebanon. In a statement addressed to the President and Prime Minister, Geagea emphasized the ineffectiveness of traditional responses such as condemning Israel and filing complaints with the Security Council.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Geagea stressed the need for Lebanon to adopt alternative strategies to establish a military balance capable of stopping Israeli aggression. He acknowledged the absence of such options and urged Lebanon to reach out to its allies, particularly the United States and Saudi Arabia, to exert pressure on Israel.
Geagea highlighted that both the United States and Saudi Arabia require the establishment of a truly sovereign Lebanese state with exclusive control over military and security decisions. He noted that this has been a longstanding demand, rooted in the Taif Agreement and reflected in various UN Security Council Resolutions and Lebanese government decisions.
The Lebanese Forces Chief expressed hope for an emergency Cabinet session to implement recent decisions and engage in detailed consultations with international allies. Geagea's goal is to secure a permanent halt to Israeli aggression, ensure Israel's withdrawal, and restore adherence to the 1949 Armistice Agreement.
