Washington: A senior US official told Axios that Israel did not inform Washington in advance of the strike in Beirut's southern suburbs, confirming that the US administration was only notified immediately after the raid.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the official explained that the United States had known for days that Israel was preparing to escalate its military operations in Lebanon, but it was unaware of the timing, location, or identity of the target of Sunday's strike.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials confirmed to the website that the Israeli military targeted senior Hezbollah military commander Ali Tabtabai inside what they described as a "safe house" in Beirut, noting that he is considered the organization's second-in-command in terms of operational importance.
