Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, engaged in a series of meetings on Tuesday, starting with the newly appointed Board of Directors of the Tripoli Port Authority. The board, led by Iskandar Bendali, discussed the current state of the port and the challenges it faces.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Bendali informed President Aoun that the board is in the process of developing a strategic plan aimed at establishing the Tripoli Port as a leading hub in the Middle East. President Aoun expressed his support for the board and emphasized the importance of revitalizing the port to bolster Lebanon's national economy.
In a separate meeting, President Aoun sat down with Judge George Attieh, head of Central Inspection, who updated him on the agency's operations and the status of various files under review. This is part of ongoing efforts to enhance oversight within public administrations and state institutions.
Additionally, President Aoun hosted MPs Adnan Traboulsi and Taha Naji at Baabda Palace to discuss the general situation and current developments in the country.
In celebration of Lebanon's Independence Day, President Aoun received a congratulatory message from Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the message, President Putin highlighted the traditionally cordial relations between Russia and Lebanon and expressed confidence in their continued development. He reiterated Russia's support for Lebanon's sovereignty and national unity, condemning any external interference in Lebanon's internal affairs.
