Beirut: The Arab and International Relations Council convened for an extraordinary meeting at the residence of former Lebanese President Amine Gemayel to deliberate on pressing developments at both Arab and international levels.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting saw the participation of notable figures including Council President Mohammad Jassem Al-Sakr, former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri, former Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa, Culture Minister Ghassan Salameh, and the Council's Director General, Ambassador Mohammad Al-Sallal.
The discussions were primarily focused on the escalating tensions in southern Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, Yemen, Sudan, and Somalia. Additionally, the rapid developments in Venezuela and their potential implications on international affairs were also on the agenda.
The Council emphasized the critical need for Arab solidarity in supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state and called for the withdrawal of the Israeli army from southern Lebanon. These measures, they believe, are pivotal to achieving peace in the region.
Members of the Council expressed their commitment to maintaining open deliberations and highlighted the importance of activating diplomatic channels and engaging in political dialogue to address ongoing crises, steering clear of forceful resolutions.
