Beirut: Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi stated that the ceasefire agreement necessitates the transfer of weapons to state institutions. He emphasized that this condition is essential for ending Israeli attacks, restoring sovereignty, and unlocking international assistance.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Raggi, in an interview with Sky News Arabia, mentioned that the conflict began without state approval and caused extensive damage. This situation led Lebanese authorities, alongside the United States, France, and Arab countries, to seek a ceasefire. The agreement outlines the dismantling of Hezbollah's military structure and restricts arms to five legitimate institutions, in exchange for a cessation of Israeli operations.
Raggi also noted that donor countries are linking aid, reconstruction, and investment to the exclusivity of weapons and economic reforms. He commended the Lebanese Army's performance south of the Litani River and acknowledged U.S. support.
Regarding discussions with Abbas Araghchi, Raggi mentioned that the talks addressed disagreements, including Iran's role in Lebanon, and reiterated Lebanon's stance against external interference.
