Beirut: Five Lebanese universities have been selected to participate in the EUSEEDS project, an initiative aimed at boosting young people's employability, entrepreneurship, and digital skills. The project, co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, seeks to strengthen the role of these institutions in addressing socio-economic challenges through strategic educational enhancements.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the EUSEEDS project will be implemented in five higher education institutions across Lebanon. The selected universities include the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Phoenicia University, the Higher Institute of Applied and Social Sciences - Cnam Lebanon, Beirut Arab University, and Notre Dame University-Louaiz©. These institutions will benefit from the creation or revitalization of employability and digital skills centers, aimed at improving the professional integration of students, young graduates, and vulnerable groups.
The EUSEEDS project, operating in five Eastern Mediterranean countries, focuses on nurturing essential skills among youth. Following a call for applications in October 2025, 24 universities from Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine were chosen to participate. The selection process emphasized the potential impact of each institution, their organizational capacity, and the commitment to sustaining the project's initiatives.
In Cyprus, Alexander College and the Cyprus University of Technology were selected. Egypt will see the project implemented at Suez Canal University, Alexandria University, Ain Shams University, Al-Azhar University, Damanhour University, and Mansoura University. In Jordan, the beneficiaries include Al-Bayt University, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, the University of Jordan, and the Hashemite University. Palestine's representatives are Al-Quds Open University, Bethlehem University, Al-Aqsa University, Hebron University, Al-Quds University, and An-Najah National University.
The rigorous selection process considered the expected impact of the project and the ability of universities to integrate the initiative into their strategies, with a focus on institutions in areas facing significant social challenges. AUF and its partners are committed to supporting these universities in developing their capacities and activities to align with the socio-economic needs of their regions.
