Hajjar Discusses 2026 Election Preparations with UN Officials


Beirut: Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar, on Monday received in his office at the ministry, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, and the UNDP Resident Representative in Lebanon, Blerta Aliko. During the meeting, they discussed the general situation in the country and the administrative and logistical preparations underway at the Interior ministry for the 2026 parliamentary elections.



According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the discussion also touched on ways to enhance joint cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities and the United Nations, as well as the support provided to the ministry and the Internal Security Forces. Minister al-Hajjar also met with former minister Zeina Akar Adra.



Al-Hajjar then received Bekaa Governor, Judge Kamal Abu Joudeh.
