Tripoli: Mufti of Tripoli and the North, Sheikh Mohammad Imam, Tripoli's Maronite Archdiocese Archbishop Youssef Soueif, and Papal Ambassador, Bishop Paolo Borgia, arrived at the site of the collapsed building on Syria Street in Tripoli, where they were briefed on the extent of the tragedy that struck the city.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the religious leaders issued a joint statement appealing to the three presidents for the establishment of a special council for the city of Tripoli and the North. This council would be empowered to make swift decisions aimed at alleviating the region's chronic deprivation and addressing ongoing crises.
The leaders emphasized the urgency of resolving issues related to cracked buildings and proposed the development of an emergency plan to provide safe shelters for families forced to evacuate their homes. They highlighted the necessity of avoiding further humanitarian disasters by prioritizing citizen safety above all else.
