Baghdad: Kataib Hezbollah, an Iraqi paramilitary group, has announced its intention to soon begin attacking US bases in retaliation for recent strikes targeting the organization.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Kataib Hezbollah is a significant faction within the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF). The PMF was established in 2014 with the primary aim of countering the rapid advances made by ISIL (ISIS) at the time. The recent air strikes that prompted this response resulted in the deaths of two Kataib Hezbollah fighters at the Jurf al-Sakher base, also known as Jurf al-Nasr, located in southern Iraq.
The situation has escalated tensions in the region, as the group has vowed to retaliate against US installations. The announcement comes amid ongoing instability, highlighting the volatile dynamics between local groups and foreign military presence in Iraq.
