Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Monday assured the ambassadors of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway that the ongoing Israeli attacks on Beirut's southern suburb, the South, and the Bekaa will not achieve Israel's objectives. Aoun emphasized Lebanon's commitment to the ceasefire framework agreed upon in November 2024, highlighting that Lebanon fully adheres to the cessation of hostilities in exchange for Israel halting attacks across Lebanese territory.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Aoun stated that Lebanon has informed major powers and the United Nations of its readiness to resume negotiations on necessary security arrangements to stop the escalation. He mentioned that the government's decision to ensure the exclusivity of arms will be implemented according to the Lebanese Army's plan when security conditions allow. The ambassadors affirmed their countries' solidarity with Lebanon and expressed their readiness to provide assistance to displaced Lebanese families.
