Beirut: Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Wednesday received a delegation from the Union of Bakeries’ Syndicates in Lebanon, led by Nasser Srour, with Economy and Trade Minister Amer Bisat also present. The meeting focused on discussing the stability of the bread supply during the current period.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Nasser Srour highlighted that the discussions aimed at ensuring that bread distribution remains steady and undisrupted across all regions. He assured that Lebanon’s flour and wheat stocks are sufficient for more than three months, accounting for supplies held in mills, bakeries, and shipments currently at sea.
Srour also addressed concerns about the rising prices of bread. He emphasized that any potential price increases should be carefully considered to account for citizens’ challenging circumstances, ensuring that no additional financial burdens are imposed on them.
