Beirut: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran would welcome any regional initiative that could lead to a "just end" to the ongoing war, emphasizing that the resolution of the conflict hinges on assurances that it will not recur and on the provision of compensation.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Araghchi made these remarks in an interview with 'Al-Araby Al-Jadeed', as reported by 'Russia Today'. He noted that no specific proposal to end the war has been put forward yet. Additionally, he highlighted Iran's continued diplomatic engagements with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and other neighboring nations.
Araghchi reiterated that Iranian forces have not targeted civilian or residential areas in regional countries, asserting that their attacks have been focused solely on U.S. bases and interests in the vicinity. He also expressed Iran's willingness to establish a joint investigative committee with regional states to examine the targets that have been hit.
The minister did not dismiss the possibility of Israel's involvement in attacks on civilian targets within Arab countries, suggesting it could be an attempt to deteriorate relations with Iran.
Araghchi further alleged that the United States has manufactured a drone similar to Iran's "Shahed" drones, named "Lucas," claiming it is identical in design and is being employed to strike locations in Arab nations.
He issued a warning that occupying Iran's Kharg Island would be a "bigger mistake than attacking it," and cautioned that if Iranian oil facilities are targeted, Tehran would retaliate by striking facilities owned by American companies in the region.
Araghchi also mentioned that the Strait of Hormuz remains accessible to all vessels except those belonging to the United States and its allies.
He concluded by assuring that Iran's Supreme Leader is in good health and fully in control of managing the country's affairs. He also affirmed that the internal situation in Iran is stable, with no divisions within the government institutions or the military.
