Hajjar Stresses Legal Procedures for Demonstrations in Security Meeting

Beirut: Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad Al-Hajjar, presided over a pivotal security meeting at his ministry office, focusing on the organization of demonstrations in accordance with legal frameworks. The meeting was attended by several key officials, including the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Raed Abdullah, Beirut Governor, Judge Marwan Abboud, and other high-ranking security officers. Discussions centered around the current security situation in Lebanon, with a particular emphasis on Beirut.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister Al-Hajjar was informed by officials about the operational measures currently being implemented by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces across various Lebanese regions. He underscored the importance of maintaining security and stability, especially during the ongoing critical phase in Lebanon, by coordinating efforts with the Lebanese Army.

Minister Al-Hajjar reiterated the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities' commitment to upholding internal stability, ensuring the security and safety of both protesters and citizens. He stressed the protection of state institutions and properties while preserving the right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression. Al-Hajjar emphasized the necessity for organizers of any demonstration, gathering, or sit-in to comply with the legal requirement of submitting prior notification to the concerned governor. This compliance will facilitate the implementation of necessary organizational measures, guided by the proposals from the Internal Security Forces, in accordance with the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities Decision No. 1024 dated March 29, 2006.
