Beirut: Minister Kamal Chehadeh announced that the recent ceasefire represents a significant achievement for Lebanon, attributing the progress to diplomatic efforts while acknowledging that the journey ahead remains extensive.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Chehadeh stated that the Lebanese government independently makes its decisions, without coordination with Hezbollah, emphasizing that all negotiations are state-led. He dismissed claims that the decision was influenced by Iran, clarifying that Lebanon initiated contact with support from both regional and international partners.
Chehadeh highlighted President Joseph Aoun's commitment to direct engagement with Washington to reinforce the ceasefire. He underscored that there would be no concessions on territory or prisoners and reiterated that arms must remain solely under state control.
