Defense Minister Visits Grand Mufti, Reaffirms Army Role in Security and Stability

Beirut: Grand Mufti Abdel Latif Derian on Wednesday received Defense Minister Michel Menassa at Dar Al-Fatwa, where the latter stressed respect for the institution's national role. Menassa reaffirmed the Lebanese Army's continued measures to enhance its presence in Beirut, enforce state authority, limit weapons to legitimate forces, and support displaced citizens amid current challenges.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting focused on the collaboration between religious and military institutions in maintaining security and stability in the region. Menassa emphasized the importance of the Lebanese Army's role in safeguarding the nation and ensuring that all military activities are conducted within the framework of state authority. The discussions also highlighted the ongoing efforts to aid displaced citizens and manage the presence of weapons among legitimate forces, reflecting the army's commitment to peace and order.
