Beirut: On the occasion of Labor Day, Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, issued a statement expressing solidarity with the workers of Lebanon, including employers, members of free professions, farmers, paramedics, medical personnel, emergency responders, and journalists in the Bekaa and southern suburbs. He particularly highlighted the plight of those steadfast in the south and those displaced from their homes due to Israeli aggression. He described the actions of Israel, using internationally prohibited weapons, as unprecedented acts that transform fields, homes, and factories into scorched earth.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Berri extended his respect to the martyred workers and all martyrs, emphasizing the significance of their sacrifices in opposing occupation. He articulated the conviction that land represents dignity and honor, asserting it as a right that surpasses all sacrifices.
Berri called for urgent national and international action on this year's May 1st, urging the state and international community to compel Israel to halt its aggression. He advocated for the swift formation of an international fact-finding committee to investigate the crimes committed by Israeli forces against workers, particularly in the southern border areas and south of the Litani River.
Speaker Berri concluded by honoring the workers and martyrs, expressing hopes for the wounded's swift recovery.
