Bkerki: The Lebanese Committee for the Defense of the Armenian Cause on Thursday said a delegation met Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara al-Rahi in Bkerki after laying a wreath at the khachkar commemorating victims of the Armenian genocide.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the delegation, accompanied by Armenian Catholic Patriarchal Vicar Bishop Krikor Badishah, briefed Rai on what it described as ongoing cultural destruction in occupied Artsakh, or Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the issue of Armenian prisoners of war and detainees held in Baku.
A statement revealed that the delegation asked the patriarch to raise the issue with the Vatican.
The meeting also addressed the symbolism of Lebanon's Martyrs' Day on May 6 and the importance of restoring its full significance.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation presented Rahi with two volumes of the book "Artsakh. Heritage in Danger," prepared by the central committee of the Hamazkayin association.
