Aoun Commemorates 39th Anniversary of Rashid Karami’s Assassination, Pledges Continued State-Building Efforts

Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Monday commemorated the 39th anniversary of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rashid Karami, describing him as one of Lebanon's most devoted statesmen and a symbol of national unity and state institutions. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Aoun said Karami believed in a unified Lebanon beyond sectarian divisions and viewed the state as the sole guarantor of coexistence and national stability. Reflecting on Lebanon's current challenges, including ongoing Israeli attacks, Aoun said the country deeply misses leaders of Karami's caliber who placed national interests above personal ambitions. Aoun stressed that Karami's legacy remains alive in all those who believe in Lebanon and its future, pledging to continue efforts to end the suffering of the Lebanese people, particularly in the South, while advancing state-building, reform and justice. Aoun concluded by honoring Karami's memory and reaffirming his commitment to a sovereign, united and r esilient Lebanon.
