Nabatieh: Agriculture Minister, Nizar Hani, on Friday toured Nabatieh to assess damage caused by Israeli attacks, focusing on affected agricultural areas and public institutions. Hani said the agricultural sector was among the hardest hit, with 22.5% of Lebanon's farmland-around 56,000 hectares-damaged, mostly in South Lebanon and Nabatieh.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Hani estimated agricultural losses at more than $1 billion and announced immediate support for farmers. This support includes financial aid, labor assistance, and the rehabilitation of 1,500 plastic greenhouses and 50 water wells equipped with solar-powered pumps.
He also announced renewed testing of soil, water, and crops after previous analyses detected glyphosate levels up to 50-60 times above normal in some border areas.
