Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, discussed the current situation and regional developments with French President Emmanuel Macron during a phone call, amid recent events in the region.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Aoun briefed Macron on the outcome of his visit to the United States and his talks with US President Donald Trump and other American officials, which focused on conditions in Lebanon, the period following the agreement on the framework formula, and the implementation of its provisions.
Both presidents also addressed the situation in southern Lebanon amid continued Israeli attacks on several southern villages and towns, stressing the need to halt the violations and uphold the cessation of hostilities.
They discussed the post-UNIFIL phase following the end of the international peacekeeping mission's operations in southern Lebanon, emphasizing the importance of continued international support to maintain stability in the area.
Presidents Aoun and Macron agreed to remain in contact to follow up on developments.
