Yarzeh: National Defense Minister Michel Menassa on Thursday received Army Commander General Rodolph Haykal at his office in Yarzeh, heading a delegation that included members of the Military Council and senior Army officers. The visit was held to thank Menassa for his positions in support of the military institution and for his stance toward fallen soldiers and their families.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, General Haykal expressed gratitude towards Minister Menassa, emphasizing the unwavering support the minister has provided to the Army and the families of its fallen soldiers. "You have never let down the families of the martyrs, and you never will. You made us proud and upheld the dignity of the Army," Haykal stated in response to Menassa's earlier comments during the day.
Haykal reiterated that the Army's mission remains focused on national objectives, which include protecting Lebanon and ensuring its security and stability. He emphasized the unity within the military, stating that "there is no sect among those who wear the military uniform."
Minister Menassa responded by characterizing the Army as "the backbone of the state," underscoring its role in maintaining the country's security. He called for enhanced unity within the military and commended General Haykal, the Army command, officers, and troops for their dedication. Menassa highlighted the need for greater cohesion and cooperation to enable the Army to continue fulfilling its national responsibilities and safeguarding Lebanon.
