Giorgia Meloni and Joseph Aoun Discuss Middle East Peace in Taranto

Taranto: The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, engaged in a meeting with the President of the Lebanese Republic, Joseph Aoun, today. This meeting took place during the opening ceremony of the 20th Mediterranean Games and focused on critical issues affecting Lebanon and the broader Middle East.

According to Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the discussions centered around the current situation in Lebanon, the ongoing negotiations with Israel, and the planned withdrawal of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) by 2027. President Meloni emphasized Italy's unwavering support for Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity. She also reiterated Italy's commitment to facilitating a just and lasting peace agreement between Lebanon and Israel, offering to host further negotiation sessions in Italy to aid this diplomatic process.
