EDL Begins Cutting Power to Public Bodies Over Unpaid Dues

Beirut: Électricité du Liban (EDL) said Monday it had begun cutting electricity to public administrations, institutions, and municipalities that failed to settle outstanding dues or contact the utility within the specified deadline. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, EDL thanked entities that paid all or part of their arrears, urging those that made partial payments to settle remaining balances within 10 days. The utility emphasized the critical importance of regular collection in maintaining electricity supply, especially given the financial pressures and rising fuel costs. EDL reiterated that the measures were being applied uniformly, with the objective of recovering public funds, ensuring equal treatment of subscribers, and safeguarding service continuity.
