Tehran: Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Navy has declared its control over the Strait of Hormuz as "completely decisive," countering US assertions that the critical waterway remains open, and accusing American officials of deception to "cover up their own defeats."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the IRGC Navy emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is closed to all ships lacking coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The statement asserted that this closure would persist until the cessation of US hostilities against Iran and the fulfillment of outstanding obligations by the United States.
The announcement marks the latest development in Iran's reaction to perceived US hostilities, which led Tehran to implement a new maritime regime in the strategic passage following US-Israeli attacks on the country six months prior. A Pakistan-mediated memorandum had temporarily reopened the waterway for a 60-day period in June; however, the agreement disintegrated following successive US violations of the terms.
