Lebanon’s Role in Global Security Emphasized at Baku Forum

Baku:State Security Director General Major General Edgar Lawandos represented Lebanon at the fourth Baku Security Forum in Azerbaijan, which focused on emerging global security challenges and counterterrorism cooperation. According to National news agency - Lebanon, Lawandos highlighted the necessity of international cooperation in combating terrorism, emphasizing the importance of intelligence-sharing, addressing complex financing networks, and tackling cybercrime and digital extremism. Lawandos advocated for a permanent security cooperation mechanism founded on mutual trust and respect for national sovereignty. He also underscored that Lebanon's security institutions continue to operate effectively despite facing economic, political, and wartime challenges. During the forum, Lawandos engaged in bilateral meetings with other security chiefs to discuss enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise.
