Tyre:UNIFIL Commander, General Diodato Abagnara, has called for serious efforts to prevent any security vacuum in southern Lebanon, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability in coordination with the United Nations, Lebanese authorities, relevant stakeholders, and the international community.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, General Abagnara spoke at the Southern Women's Home-Products Exhibition organized by the Municipality of Tyre, noting that UNIFIL has only three months left until its current mission concludes at the end of the year. He stressed the need to work diligently to create the desired conditions for the future.
Abagnara affirmed his commitment to remain in Lebanon as long as his presence is needed in support of peace and stability, describing his collaboration with local communities as an honor. He highlighted that UNIFIL's role is to serve and support the people.
He also urged for continued cooperation and determination, stating that achieving a better future requires collective efforts and unity towards peace and security.
Highlighting the role of women in society, Abagnara described their participation as crucial to building a more stable future. He expressed gratitude to the media for its coverage of UNIFIL's activities and support for its work.
After touring the exhibition, Tyre Mayor Hassan Dbouk thanked General Abagnara for his attendance and commended UNIFIL's role in supporting the peace process and providing assistance to the local community. Abagnara also distributed gifts to the women participating in the event.
