Hani Advocates for Export Growth and Modern Farming in Bekaa

Beirut:Bekaa Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani toured agricultural projects in the Bekaa region, with a focus on modern production techniques, post-harvest services, and enhancing export readiness.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, the minister's visits included the MEDIGARDENS packing center, Berry Fruits Farm, and the Agri Fresh project, which utilizes technology-driven methods to produce approximately three million heads of lettuce annually.

Hani emphasized the importance of efficient water and input use, maintaining consistent quality, reducing waste, and ensuring proper sorting, packaging, and cold-chain management. He noted that expanding exports requires a reliable supply and adherence to market standards, with particular attention to Gulf markets, especially Saudi Arabia.

The tour concluded in Ain Zebdeh, where Hani met with grape growers and exporters. He highlighted that grapes are Lebanon's leading agricultural export, reaching over 40 countries, and called for stronger coordination, improved quality control, and wider market access.
