Lebanese Army Celebrates New Housing Project for Personnel

Baabda:President Joseph Aoun emphasized the importance of the Lebanese Army, describing it as "the rock on which the nation stands" and affirming that its weapons are the only legitimate arms for building a state.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Aoun made these remarks during the cornerstone ceremony for a new housing project dedicated to Army non-commissioned officers and personnel in Mardasheh, Baabda. The event was attended by Defense Minister Michel Menassa, Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal, and senior officers.

Aoun highlighted the soldiers' dedication, acknowledging their sacrifices amid years of economic hardship. He praised their commitment to duty despite facing challenges such as collapsing salaries and increasing responsibilities.

The housing project spans approximately 50,000 square meters and will feature five buildings with around 100 housing units. It will also include sports facilities, open courts, a swimming pool, a restaurant, and a new Army cooperative branch. The construction will occur in two phases, each expected to last up to 18 months, with similar projects anticipated across Lebanon.
