President Aoun Calls for Aid to Bolster Local Economy Amid Relief Efforts

Tripoli:President Joseph Aoun met with a delegation from World Central Kitchen, led by Javier Garc­a, to discuss the organization's relief efforts in Lebanon, particularly in South Lebanon and the Bekaa region, where they have been aiding vulnerable communities and displaced individuals.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, World Central Kitchen has significantly increased its presence in Lebanon over the past three years and stepped up its operations since October 2023. The organization has distributed approximately 22 million hot meals via nine kitchens located in the South and Bekaa areas.

The delegation highlighted their collaboration with local associations, municipalities, restaurants, and other partners to deliver meals, including during times of displacement. President Aoun emphasized the importance of ensuring that humanitarian aid also benefits the local economy, particularly farmers, agricultural producers, and small businesses.

Aoun advocated for assistance that not only addresses immediate needs but also enhances the resilience of families and fosters sustainable local economic growth.
