Beirut:Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Gebran Bassil has emphasized the critical need for dialogue among Lebanese citizens to prevent an internal conflict. He reiterated his support for the Lebanese army while rejecting attempts to categorize its commander as either an ally or foe.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Bassil made these remarks during a dinner event organized by the movement's Metn district committee. During his speech, he addressed various issues, including political representation in Metn, property sales, energy projects, government disputes, and the referral of the explosives case to the Judicial Council.
Bassil urged for the protection of Metn's land and identity and cautioned against the outright rejection of others. He distinguished between collective land sales and individual property purchases. Furthermore, he criticized some electricity projects, labeling them as recycled initiatives misrepresented as new achievements, and accused certain government factions of making inconsistent political decisions.
Additionally, Bassil called for transparency and responsibility in dealing with the weapons issue. He insisted that solutions must be sought through dialogue or lawful measures, cautioning against involving Lebanon in war. He concluded his address by discouraging reliance on Israeli military intervention and expressed confidence that his movement would reclaim parliamentary representation in Metn in the upcoming elections.
