Tehran:Iran announced on Monday that it is contemplating reopening the Strait of Hormuz within two days if the United States agrees to its conditions. This move suggests a potentially accelerated timeline for securing the strategic waterway amid ongoing diplomatic exchanges between the two nations.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Iran had initially proposed a one-week timeframe for the reopening but is now considering a shorter, two-day period. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei emphasized that this consideration reflects Iran's good-faith approach to the situation.
Baqaei noted that meeting Iran's demands could lead to the restoration of security in the Strait of Hormuz and allow for the resumption of negotiations in a timely manner. He also confirmed that communication through mediators between the United States and Iran is still ongoing.
