Damascus, SANA- Parliamentary delegations from fraternal and friendly states started to arrive in Syria to keep up with the presidential elections and to inspect their process in response to an invitation by People’s Assembly.
On Sunday, a delegation from Islamic Shura Council headed by MP, Zahra al-Lahyan, Head of Human Rights Committee affiliated to National Security and Foreign Policy Committee at the Assembly, with the delegation consisting of a number of Assembly’s members.
In a statement, al Lahyan pointed out that the elections in Syria represent an example of democracy and express the right of the Syrian people in determining their own future, clarifying that her country’s delegation visiting Syria will participate in keeping up with these elections.
Earlier a delegation from Iraq arrived in Syria on Sunday morning, headed by a member of Iraqi Parliament Gatah al-Rekabi and a number of Iraqi MPs, with the aim of keeping pace with the presidential election process.
