Ramallah: President Mahmoud Abbas has conveyed his willingness to work closely with US President Donald Trump to implement a comprehensive peace agreement in the Middle East. Abbas expressed his gratitude for Trump's effective role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, viewing it as a critical step toward resolving ongoing regional conflicts which may enhance the security and stability of the area.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Abbas, in his letter to Trump, highlighted the US President's decisive actions advocating for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Abbas sees this as part of Trump's broader efforts to establish a fair and comprehensive peace not only between Palestinians and Israelis but also across the globe. He emphasized the potential for peace and justice to prevail under Trump's leadership.
President Abbas reiterated Palestine's readiness to negotiate immediately and work alongside Trump, as well as Arab and international partners, to implement a peace agreement within a defined and obligatory timeline. This agreement aims to end the occupation and secure a just and enduring peace, anchored in international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The President further affirmed Palestine's commitment to collaborate with Trump, Saudi Arabia, Arab and Islamic nations, and European and international allies to deliver on the promise of peace, ensuring security and stability for all involved.
Abbas expressed his belief that, with President Trump, it is possible to achieve what once seemed unachievable: a recognized, free, sovereign, and secure Palestine alongside a recognized and secure Israel, fostering a region characterized by peace, prosperity, and integration. He concluded by expressing hope and confidence in Trump's capacity to forge a new historical chapter for the region, restoring a long-lost peace.
